Download Festival 2016 took place on the 10th-12th June 2016
The headline acts were:
- Rammstein
- Black Sabbath
- Iron Maiden

I went with my friend Matt (seen in the thumbnail of the video above). We went to Sonisphere the year before, so this year we went to Download again.
The Prep
Having someone else to go with made this year so much better!
Some friends had money again and so we camped together, and I took my friend Matt, so the trip down was pretty fun.
So after stocking the car up with far too much stuff, we left for Download!
The Campsite
I think our camp this year was 5-people strong, so it was a pretty lively and fun place to hang out.
This was at the height of the Game of Thrones fandom though, so those guys talked about that and I got bored.
But we had a good time, and the weather held out for a bit! I even got pretty sunburnt this year!
But actually, let’s talk about…
The Weather
For the first two days (Wednesday & Thursday) the weather was really good. Sunshine and smiles all round.
The the music started (Friday) and it all went downhill.
Just before Babymetal came onstage, the heavens opened and they didn’t close again until the following Monday. It got pretty bad…
The Music
As always, I had a great time listening to the music. Some personal highlights of the festival include:
- NOFX
- Pennywise
- Anti Flag
- Korn
Basaically the punk bands. Not that the metal wasn’t awesome too, I just love me some pop punk.
The biggest let-down of the festival was, sadly one of my all-time favourite bands: Iron Maiden
They played the Book of Souls, their newest album, in full.
Now, when a band plays a festival, they usually want to play the well-known, biggest songs they have. They do not want to listen to an hour of new music.

Download Festival 2016 was everything I want from a festival.

The weather was unreliable, but we had a mix of sun and rain, which is pretty average. I saw some great bands and had a great time.
You can’t ask for much more.
