Reading Festival 2013 took place between the 23rd and 25th August 2013, with camping open from Wednesday 21st. The headline acts were:
- Green Day
- Eminem
- Biffy Clyro
Again I went to this festival with some friends who would become part of my annual Festival Crew.
The Prep
I packed such an insane amount of clothes (that I also ironed!) for this festival.
And this was before I learned about trucks/trollys/sack-barrows
By the time I managed to carry my metric ton of equipment into camp, I was ready to pass out and sleep for a week!
But no time! Because this was a festival and I had some enjoyment to… enjoy.
For some reason this was the week I decided that baseball caps with the visor stuck up looked really cool.
I know better now.
The Festival
Mostly, the festival was awesome and we had a great time, getting drunk and chatting at camp.
The best bit of any festival though is the people! The rando’s that you meet and chat to are always my favourite part of the experience.
This year we met a man on MDMA who was lovely, but his hallucinations kept warping the conversation. We chatted to him for a few hours at our camp before he wandered off.
At one point he leant in and tried to grab my crotch, convinced it was his cup shaped like a duck.
It was weird and fun! (And not sexually aggressive or anything, he was just stoned out of his gourd)
The Music
This years line-up was amazing! Some of the bands I went for included:
- Green Day
- System of a Down
- Eminem
- NIN
Now I’m older and have a wider musical taste, I hate all the amazing bands I missed this year!
- Gnarwolves
- Frank Turner
- Alkaline Trio
- Itch
This is why it’s important to explore and listen to bands you’ve never heard of!
Wrap Up
Reading Festival was one of my first festivals, and I had such an amazing time.
I discovered new bands I now love, I met fun people and this cemented my love of music festivals forever.
My previous festival was Download Festival 2012.
My next festival was Download Festival 2015.
